Mythology
In Bantu cultures a common myth about the origin of death involving a chameleon
is an animal of eternal life. According to this myth, God sent the chameleon to
announce to men that they would never die. The chameleon went on his mission,
but he walked slowly and stopped along the way to eat. Some time after the
chameleon had left, a lizard went to announce to men that they would
die. Being much quicker than the chameleon, the lizard arrived first, thus
establishing the mortal nature of man. As a consequence of this myth, both
chameleons and lizards are often considered bad omens in Bantu cultures. But
Depending on local traditions, there are different explanations for the "double
message" of the chameleon and lizard. In some cases, God sends both the
chameleon and the lizard, with their respective omens, intentionally committing
mankind's destiny to the outcome of their race. In some other cases, the lizard
eavesdrops the orders God gives to the chameleon, and chooses to bring the
opposite message out of envy. In still other cultures, after having sent the
chameleon, God changes his mind as a consequence of the bad behaviour of
mankind. Missionaries have often adapted the myth of the chameleon to envagelize
Bantu Africans; the chameleon, who brings the good news of eternal life to mankind, is thus equated to Jesus christ.

Poetry
A black person
Its hard to comprehend how a black person consider
I mean, inorder
for us to discover
we must sell out our own brothers
A black person
can't shine without being odd one on the line
you know black people are
complicated.
We claime to be educated
but still commit deeds that reveal
knowledge is restricted
Poverty pervades in our communities, instead of
forming a unity we complaine.
We never want see anther black succeeding
But bleeding.
We call our brothers and sisters foreigners and forget that
they also have forefathers.
Only one visit by our president to zimbabwe, just
to have 'four beers' with mugabe after that xenephobia began.I guess if only
they didn't have those beers none of this genocide would have occured, but what
can i say, apartheid has re-occurred.Today a black man celebrates his birthday,
they all drink coke but they don't know whats behind that code.I will always
drink 'pepcy' becouse they always supported democracy.
- THE VOICES OF OUR HANDS
TODAY OUR HANDS CAN ONLY SPEAK VIOLENCE
THEY ARE THE DRIVING FORCE
BEHIND THOSE MAN-MADE KILLING POLLUTANTS
I'M TALKING ABOUT THE SAME HANDS THAT MUG YOU IN THE CORNERS OF THE STREETS
OUR HANDS EMERGE TO BE THE SLAVES
OF OUR MENTALITY
THE HANDS THAT RELUCTANTLY MAKE A TICK NEXT TO A POLITICAL
PARTY
WE ARE TOO EGOTISTIC TO EVEN BOTHER COUNTERNANCING OUR HANDS TO
ENCOUNTER THE FEELING OF LIBERTY
RIGHT USED TO BE RIGHT, AND LEFT USED TO BE
LEFT, BUT TODAY RIGHT IS LEFT AND IS RIGHT.
I'M APPAL OF THE HANDS OF THE
YOUTH, BECOZ THE TRUTH LOOKS STRAGE
YOU ASK FOR DIRECTIONS INSTEAD OF HANDS
POINTING HANDS ARE STABING
OUR HANDS ARE TIRSTY FOR BLOOD
I WONDER WHY GOD
STAYS IN HEAVEN
IS HE AFRAID OF WHAT HE CREATED ON EARTH? ...

Bantu Holy book
The Bantu holly book is an impressive studyof Dr. Sundkler he traces the development of the Bantu Churches in South Africa which seceded from the Missions or split amongst themselves. The author gives a fascinating account of the life and aspirations of these purely Bantu churches and of their leaders. Dr. Sundkler's study is concentrated on the contact which took place in these churches between the old
heritage of the people and the new message.

I suffer after I have held my pain So long? Because my mouth Is wide with laughter, You do not hear My inner cry? Because my feet Are gay with dancing, You do not know I die?
